may quest
Character(s): Daenerys + Asura
Month: May
Type: City-Wide
Request: There has been a recent uptick in robbery, ranging from pick-pocketing to home burglary, reported in Aefenglom's Refugee District. While there are no current leads on the perpetrator(s), the longer they remain at large, the more it becomes clear that their intent is to instill fear more than it is to harm. Daenerys and Asura ask that the Mirrorbound stand with the Refugee community by escorting their numbers to and from their places of work, or simply accompanying them on daily outings. This may serve to bring the Mirrorbound closer to the perpetrator(s) as well, and should anyone stumble upon any worthwhile leads, they should be reported to both Daenerys and Asura posthaste. All volunteers will be rewarded with goodwill from the Refugee community, and those who provide information which leads to an arrest will receive a sum of cunes.

This quest has the aspects of an event. Characters can have their items missing as well, not just the NPCs. A crime-wave has occurred in refugee and Mirrorbound district and Dany and Asura have hoped to find the culprit. Below are three clues gathered, please feel free to sign up for the clue your character wishes to pursue.
SIGN-UP SLOTS: UNLIMITED
Clue 1: Should player characters speak to any of the Refugees who were robbed, they will come to find discrepancies in the descriptions of the perpetrator. These stark differences in testimony suggest that there are multiple culprits at play. Refugees who were pick-pocketed describe losing their wallets to a small shadow, quick as lightning. Those who have had homes burglarized will report catching sight of a larger figure, one who vanished into thin air before anyone could glimpse them properly.
By the day, more conflicting reports will reach Mirrorbound ears: compiling this evidence together may be more than anyone bargained for.
SIGN-UP SLOTS: UNLIMITED
Clue 2: Player characters will find many of the broken into locations had forced entry. Outside of one of the burgled homes, a large crate full of heavy materials was pushed to access a second story window. Another more paranoid home would find an iron door broken at the lock. Finally, one of the more vocal victims in the refugee slums reported that her window had been broken into but she blasted the assailant away with magic before getting a good look at them. All she saw were small footprints in the mud that belonged to a humanoid monster or witch.
SIGN-UP SLOTS: 1 GROUP OF THREE
Clue 3: Player characters who escort Refugees on their daily outings may find themselves the target of the very pick-pocket responsible for many of the robberies. If caught, the pick-pocket "a small shadow, quick as lightning" is found to be a child from one of the orphanages in the Harbor District. They exclaim that they meant no trouble, it isn’t their fault, and someone put them up to this! That ‘someone’ is an unnamed benefactor who promised them enough cunes to ensure that no child at their orphanage would have to work in the factories again. The orphan met them outside a fancy establishment in the Shopping District: a bakery, the orphan recalls, because they had been distracted by the lovely display-case window with an array of cakes and white trim.
Characters will receive these clues without a mod intervening – so once you "sign up" here, feel free to do an open or closed log to thread things out. ICly, clues will need to be turned into Dany or Asura, but this can be hand-waved or assumed!

But she's going to ask what it looked like when they vanished. Did they just fade away?

Are multiple robberies happening at the same time?
no subject
Not at the same time concurrently, but on multiple days! All fitting the time-frame mentioned here.

As an aside, are there any patterns at all in the descriptions that might be able to be spotted other than the small pickpocket and large burglar, or are all the other details wildly different in each testimony? Momo's fairly calculating and detail-oriented, so he'd at least make an attempt to spot small patterns before potentially internally screaming a lot and wondering how people do this kind of job full-time.

Why before 7PM?
Why risk doing this in almost broad daylight?
Did the culprits have somewhere to be at 7PM?
The last question has some tie-ins: 7PM is the changing of the small presence of the city guard in the slums, the closing time for many small refugee-owned merchant stands, and the curfew for the orphanage.
We have a player looking into clue 3 as well which also ties nicely into this if you'd like to seek additional collaboration.

She's around 5'1", would it easy to tell that the culprit is smaller from these clues by reference of her own frame? And with enough interviewing the surrounding homes, would it be possible to guesstimate what sort things the culprit is after?
...Finally, is it possible to take a cast of the foot prints. im sorry this is how she is

Zelda is free to discern the size of the culprit, yes! The size of the footprints would definitely support her claim.
If she interviews citizens, the victims will state they found it odd that some items were left untouched that clearly seemed valuable and instead items of lesser value were taken. For example: one victim had an heirloom of immense importance left behind – one of the only items of value she brought with her to the slums: an old-styled, plain silver brooch with her family crest upon it. However, costume jewelry made of metal and colored with bright paints were stolen. The victim has no idea why something so cheerful and poorly made would catch the attention of anyone. It was in a youthful, loud style.

at least i didnt ask to put her in a barrel and get kidnapped what can i say

During Zelda's exploration and investigation, she'll be able to find a solid lead on one of the possible thieves. A teenage dragon, still going through transformations is dressed in bright clothing and seemingly fond of jewelry of all kinds. Dozens of necklaces hang from his neck – but most notorious is something that looks... gaudy? Out of place? Its a vivid, multi-colored costume jewelry that hits down to his belt-line.
He'd absolutely whine and sob and blame "someone put them up to it". He won't divulge anymore information other than he "can't say anything else or else".. HMMM...
